Interval International is the 2nd largest timeshare exchange service in the world with 2 million members worldwide. Interval International began in 1976 to be a direct competitor to RCI which was the dominating timeshare exchange being the only service provider at the time. Interval (II) received initial funding by Marriott, the global hotel and resort developer. Interval World is the web-address for Interval International. Interval's vacation exchange network consists of over 2,000 resorts in the club.
Interval International services
Interval International provides timeshare exchange services to over 2 million members. Interval International also provides travel services like airfare and car booking. IntervalInternational.com or IntervalWorld.com enables timeshare members the ability to deposit their week using the Internet.
Interval International Resorts
There are over 2,000 timeshare resorts as part of the Interval International club including Westgate resorts, Marriott Vacation Club, Disney Vacation Club and much more. These are all available at IntervalWorld.com. Marriott Vacation Club is the largest and most influential customer of Interval International. Recently, Marriott has broken off ties to Interval World services by starting a points-based club and handling all exchange and services in-house. Marriott Owner Services deny that unhappiness with service level was the main reason for the change.
Interval International Exchange
Marriott owners that still own "week-based" timeshares are still able to use the Interval service but rumor has it that many have left the service in mass-exodus.
Interval International itself does not own any resorts. Member resorts, called Interval International Resorts, must become a member of the resort network. And while the properties are not owned or managed by Interval International, they all must meet Interval's criteria for quality. It is unknown and unstated what those qualities are.
Interval International Resort Reviews
Resorts that are part of the Interval International Resort catalog have reviews but they are not written by timeshare owners. The timeshare resort reviews are paid for.
Interval Exchange Process
The interval exchange process is initiated when a member deposits or "banks" their timeshare into the Interval World system. That allows them to withdraw another interval or timeshare of equal value for a vacation. At this point, the timeshare owners loses control and ability to use their week and begins the waiting process for their exchange to occur. This process can take months with no guarantee of ever happening.
Interval International Vacation Club
Interval Vacation Club can not only book your timeshare exchange but offer airfare and car rental accommodations. This service is called Interval International Travel. Timeshare Rentals services is also available for an additional fee if you can not find the timeshare exchange that you want. Interval International is currently led by CEO Craig Nash (a well-known and liked guy in the industry).
Timeshare Rentals:
Today there are over 5,000 timeshare resorts in over 100 countries and 8 million timeshare owners worldwide. Vacation rentals is an $85 billion per year business. Timeshare rentals accounts for about $5 billion of that.
